No power cuts in summer: CPDCL

HYDERABAD: Despite rapid rise in new service connections and increasing demand, the Central Power Distribution Company of A.P. Ltd., (CPDCL) is assuring that there will be no power cuts in the coming summer months for the twin cities.

The power consumption is expected to touch about 20 million units during April and May months whereas last year the maximum consumption in a day was to the order of 17.56 million units towards May end.

The consumption during the current month varied between 14 million units and 15.2 million units.

The CPDCL has proposed to construct 11 sub-substations at an estimated cost of Rs. 50 crore of which Fever Hospital and Monda Market plants have been commissioned while construction of other sub-stations at Yakutpura, Road no.2, 12 & 22 Banjara Hills, Petlaburj, Krishnanagar, Sindhi Colony, Hakeempet, Patigadda, etc., was on.

An official spokesperson informed on Monday that all out efforts were being made to maintain uninterrupted power supply, minimise interruptions and breakdowns. Low voltage areas have been identified and necessary steps were on to arrange more transformers and lines as per demand.

The central breakdown teams have been strengthened to attend to any power supply problems without any delay. The operation circles in the capital had installed new or repaired poles to an extent of more than 1,200 numbers including those belonging to 11KV and LTs.

More than 26,000 new service connections were also released through the customer service centres during the current financial year till last month end.

The spokesman added that the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system was monitoring the supply position of 106 sub-stations of the city and the Ranga Reddy district.

The public complaint receiving system on number: 155333 has about 20 dedicated lines with 60 operators working round the clock.
