>>We usually do not issue corrections for typographical errors, but this is one error that needs a correction, and perhaps an apology. The caption of the accompanying photograph in the lead story “Behind Bollywood melodies” (North India editions, Friday Review, February 22, 2008, page 1) was: “Doyens Of Ghazal (clockwise from top right) Talat Mahmood with Suraiya, Late Mangeshkar with Madan Mohan, Mohammed Rafi and Bharat Bhushan as Mirza Ghalib.” It should have been Lata Mangeshkar. The error was corrected in the other editions of the Friday Review, where the article was printed in the inside pages.

>>In the lead story “Dhoni, Symonds top million dollar bids” (February 21, 2008, page 1), the first paragraph was: “Indian one-day captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds crossed the million-dollar mark as the world’s top cricketers were auctioned for the DHL Indian Premier League (IPL) in Mumbai.” It should have been DLF. (The Indian Premier League announced on February 13, 2008 that real estate company DLF Ltd., with a bid of Rs. 40 crore per annum, has won the title sponsorship rights for the cricket extravaganza that is set to kick off on April 18, 2008. DLF has exclusive title sponsorship rights for a period of five years valuing the title sponsorship in excess of Rs. 200 crore.)
