Sharath thrashed Gaston Diego Alto 11-5, 11-9, 11-5 before Saha got the better of Pablo Tabachink 11-8, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9.

In the reverse singles, Sharath beat Liu 7-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-9, 11-6 in a close match to guide India to its first win of the tournament after getting a walk-over from Kazakhstan in the first match. — PTI
