BHUBANESWAR: In the last leg of the ongoing Ekamra Utsav to promote the capital city as a favourite destination for the tourists, the annual Rajarani national music festival would be underway here from February 26 to 29. It is being hosted by the Bhubaneswar Music Circle, the 44-year-old well-known cultural institution, on behalf of the State Tourism Department. The exquisite 11th century Rajarani temple serves as its apt backdrop and the sprawling green lawns of the temple premises provide the perfect ambiance for the connoisseurs of classical music, said the organisers. The festival would showcase all the three major Indian classical music styles - Hindustani, Carnatic and Odissi. It has artistes of national repute, both in vocal and instrumental, while it also offers opportunity to the upcoming, and talented artistes of the State as well, they explained. The inaugural evening will feature Hindustani vocalist Bandita Ray from Cuttack followed by a recital by Mumbai-based noted sitar player Pandit Niladri Kumar. The concluding evening would feature violinist K. Bhubaneswari and Hindustani vocalist Pandit Upendra Bhatta from Pune.
