Vociferous protest: Telugu Desam MLCs troop out of the Council in Hyderabad on Monday, protesting against the remarks of Congress MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar against B.R. Ambedkar

HYDERABAD: The remarks by Congress MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar against B.R. Ambedkar rocked the Legislative Council on Monday with the Telugu Desam demanding action against him.

Strangely, the TDP wanted the MP to be dismissed from his present post which had never happened in the past. Its members squatted in the well of the House and raised slogans against the MP.

The Council chairman A. Chakrapani twice adjourned the House as the members were unrelenting in their demand though the Government offered to make a statement after the question hour.

At one stage, Leader of the Opposition Dadi Veerabhadra Rao hurled his earphone to the ground when Mr. Chakrapani denied a chance to speak.

The CPI, which gave a notice of adjournment motion along with the TDP to discuss the MP’s remarks, and the CPI (M) appealed to the TDP to relent but to no avail.
