Serilingampally to glow with solar streetlights

HYDERABAD: The GHMC has taken up solar powered streetlights on a pilot basis in the Serilingampally municipal circle. These lights have been installed from the Papireddy Colony to the Vambay housing colony at a cost of Rs. 27 lakh.

Commissioner and Special Officer C.V.S.K. Sarma along with senior officials visited the site on Monday and also reviewed other works in the area. The Additional Commissioner (Electrical), Devanand, said the solar streetlights were fitted with Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) and the 12 watts battery was working well. They can be aglow for about three days even without sunlight.
