Financial assistance sanctioned

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Disabled Persons Welfare Board approved the sanction of financial assistance to 112 persons with disabilities, at its third meeting on Monday.

The Board that has been set up to implement social security schemes for the disabled received applications from persons with disabilities through district Collectors in order to disburse grants.

Social Welfare Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna presided over the meeting that was held in Chennai and steered discussions on sending groups of Board members to supervise the government-funded projects in the districts.

It was also decided to work jointly with other departments such as school education, transport, employment and public works. Social Welfare secretary N.S. Palaniappan and State Commissioner for the Disabled V.K. Jeyakodi also participated in the meeting. — Special Correspondent
