Sensex up 301 points
MUMBAI: Aided by a surge in refinery and metal stocks, the benchmark Sensex on the Bombay Stock Exchange closed higher by 301 points on Monday.
Marketmen said trading sentiment turned bullish after the recently-listed Reliance Power announced a bonus issue to its shareholders, excluding promoters in the ratio of three shares for every equity shares.
The 30-share Sensex shot up by 301.50 points at 17650.57. The key index saw the day’s high of 17674.06 and low of 17137.99 points.
The major support to market came in from stocks of oil and gas, metal, capital goods and realty segments.
Similarly, National Stock Exchange Index Nifty closed higher by 89.95 points at 5200.70, after touching the day’s of high of 5212.35 and a low of 5055.15 points respectively. — PTI
