Choosing ‘parliament’ over Assembly

When the State Legislature is in session the Ministers are expected to be in the House; there is no saying when an ‘issue’ related to their department would erupt. And if the Minister is not in the House during such times he may be pulled up by the Speaker.

But what if a Minister has to drop by the ‘parliament’ during an Assembly session? The speaker may relent, right? At least that is what the education minister M.A. Baby — a former Rajya Sabha MP — told ‘parliamentarians’ in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.

He was inaugurating the National Students Parliament organised by the Students Federation of India. During his time as an MP he was able to interact with many stalwarts including M.F. Hussain and R.K. Narayan, he added.
