3 arrested for packing arrack

VANIYAMBADI: Three persons have been arrested for packing arrack at Thumberi near Vaniyambadi here on Tuesday.
The Tirupattur Sub Division Sub Collector Ashish Kumar, who was inspecting some of the ongoing development works in the panchayat under the “Annaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Scheme,” noticed some suspicious activity nearby. It was found that three persons — Palani (25), Ramesh (36) and Suresh (18) — of Thumberi Mariamman Koil Street were packing arrack in sachets in a house belonging to Velu of the same area.
Officials seized 57 arrack sachets. One of the accused Palani said that they received 32 litres of arrack from Madakalappa in Veerannamalai hill area for packing it. The three accused were handed over to the Ambalur police.
