BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday termed the railway budget proposals for Orissa `disappointing’ saying several demands of the State had not been paid attention to. Mr. Patnaik pointed out that no new rail link had been sanctioned for the State. He expressed dissatisfaction over non-allotment of a Garib Rath train for the State. “Where has the Garib Rath gone?”. A sum of Rs. 972 crore had been earmarked for Orissa in the railway budget as against the State’s demand for Rs. 1,330 crores, Mr. Patnaik said. The Chief Minister pointed out that the backward Kalahandi-Bolangir-Koraput region had again been neglected in the railway budget. Several naxal-affected districts were also ignored, he added. President of Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee Jayadev Jena, however, appreciated the provisions made for the State in the railway budget.
