MALAPPURAM: Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) State general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty has criticised Nair Service Society (NSS) leader P.K. Narayana Panicker for his remarks against the proposals of the Paloli Committee report. Mr. Panicker had said the implementation of the recommendations made by a committee headed by Local Self-government Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty in the wake of the Sachar Committee recommendations would lead to chaos in the country. Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Mr. Kunhalikutty described the NSS general secretary’s statement as harsh and unfortunate. “Mr. Panickar should have moderated the severity of his remarks,” the IUML leader said. Mr. Kunhalikutty, however, said that the response of the Muslim Educational Society (MES) leader Fazal Gafoor to Mr. Panicker’s remarks was equally harsh. “The MES too should have been temperate,” he said. Mr. Kunhalikutty described the Paloli Committee recommendations as an eyewash. The IUML, he said, would launch an agitation if the Sachar Committee recommendations were not implemented. The IUML would take out marches in all panchayats in the district on Thursday in protest against the LDF government’s policies, he said.
