‘Misuse of land’ opposed

BANGALORE: The All India Veerashiva Mahasabha has said that “indiscriminate” diversion of productive and fertile lands from agriculture to industry will damage farming interests and affect food and farmers security.

Chairman of Krishi Samiti of the Mahasabha M. Mahadevappa told presspersons here on Tuesday that agricultural zones and special economic zone were equally important.

Sacrificing any of them would lead to grave consequences.

The laws such as Forest Protection Act should be employed for protecting agricultural lands, he said. — Special Correspondent
