Poll cancellation flayed

KOLAR: The Janata Dal (Secular) district leader and District Cooperative Union president Byalahalli Govinde Gowda has alleged that the Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer has flouted democratic norms by ordering postponement of polls for president and vice-president of city municipal council of Kolar Gold Fields on Friday.

Mr. Govinde Gowda was addressing reporters after meeting Assistant Commissioner and Returning Officer M.S. Archana.

“Postponement of the polls on flimsy grounds of allegations by rival parties is a mockery of democracy,” he said.
