Power plants resume generation

HYDERABAD: The four power stations that tripped on Sunday affecting power supply in different areas of the State, resumed generation on Tuesday.

Consequently, power supply registered an improvement but with the continuance of the usual daily power cut imposed in rural areas, lasting for more than four hours.

The four stations that resumed generation are Simhadri Unit I whose installed capacity is 500 MW, Kothagudem Unit 10 (250 MW), GMR (270 MW) and GVK Unit I (45 MW).

The AP Transco said that in spite of the outage of four generation plants at a time, it was able to meet the demand to the extent of 178.13 million units on Sunday and 181.69 mu on Monday.

This was possible, as power generation at Srisailam complex was stepped up.
