“Youths have fallen addicts to liquor”

Staff Reporter

VIRUDHUNAGAR: Drinking has become a fashion and youths and school children have fallen addicts to it, the Pattali Makkal Katchi leader, S. Ramadoss, has said.

Addressing a public meeting as part of the party’s total prohibition campaign here on Tuesday, Dr. Ramadoss said that former Chief Minister Kamaraj established schools across the State, but now liquor shops have flourished everywhere. “People were losing their day long hard-earned money in the evenings at the liquor shops,” he lamented. Instead, they could use the money for eating healthy food with their family members, he said.

The district that continues to secure first place in school public examinations should lead in eradicating liquor.
