Application to minimise agricultural produce wastage in supply chain

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Infosys Technologies, in partnership with ACDI/VOCA, a non-profit international development organisation, has developed an information and communication technology (ICT)-enabled application for the supply chain of agricultural products in India. The solution aims to minimise inventory and reduce wastage, according to a release issued by Infosys.

The application has been developed for ACDI/VOCA’s Growth-Oriented Microenterprise Development Program (GMED), a $6.3 million programme funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Infosys claims that its “solution gives the organised retail sector access to a reliable small holder production base. It thereby decreases farm-to-market losses, currently estimated at 30 to 40 per cent on certain products.”
