Corrections and clarifications

* This is another typographical error that needs a correction. The strapline of a report “Migrant workforce builds up” (Chennai city, February 26, 2008, page 4) was: “Thanks to the boom in construction activity in pubic, private sectors”. It should have been public. The error is regretted.

* A report “Escalation of Turkey operations feared” (“International” page, February 26, 2008) gave the name of the Turkish President as Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Mr. Erdogan is the Prime Minister of Turkey (since March 14, 2003). The chief of state is President Abdullah Gul (since August 28, 2007).

* In a report “Left will retain power: Manik Sarkar” (February 24, 2008), the fifth paragraph was: “Apart from Mr. Sarkar and his Cabinet colleagues, Saturday’s poll will also decide the fate of Pradesh Congress Committee president and former Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Barman, Leader of Opposition Ratan Lal Nath, former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Sudhir Ranjan Barman, former underground leader and presently a leader of the Indigenous Nationalist party of Twipra (INPT).” It should have been Sudhir Ranjan Mazumdar.
