NEW DELHI: Welcoming a 10-member delegation from the Swedish Parliament, Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on Monday called for efforts to democratise the United Nations, making it a truly representative institution. At a meeting with the delegation at the Parliament Library building, he stressed the need to strengthen the engagement between Parliaments of both countries and for the two countries to cooperate in bilateral and multilateral fora. ComplimentsLeader of the visiting delegation and Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Per Westerberg complimented India for being highly successful in conflict management. Sweden could learn from its achievements, he said. BanquetMr. Chatterjee hosted a banquet in honour of the delegation. President and Vice President of the India-Sweden Parliamentary Group Rupchand Pal and Ram Singh Kaswan, were present on the occasion. The delegation witnessed the proceedings of the Lok Sabha from the distinguished visitors gallery.
