Three-year RI for power theft

NEW DELHI: A special court for electricity-related cases has sentenced the owner of an Ambedkar Nagar-based plastic goods manufacturing factory to three years’ rigorous imprisonment.

The accused had illegally tapped the NDPL main line for running his factory.

An NDPL spokesperson said a total connected load of 41.09 kW was found being stolen and the theft assessment by the discom amounted to Rs.17.63 lakh. The special court also imposed a civil liability of Rs.7.05 lakh on the accused in favour of NDPL.
