Linesmen given mobiles for instant communication with Central Control Room NEW DELHI: Students in the Capital preparing for the upcoming Central Board of Secondary Education Class X and XII examinations will not suffer on account of power cuts as power distribution company BSES has promised uninterrupted power supply during the exam days and nights. The company said it had made arrangements for additional power for the next six weeks. The discom, which is often at the receiving end of criticism for irregular power supply, has said that it has made arrangements to procure about 100 MW of power from REL, Mumbai. “This can be scaled up to 200 MW in case the situation demands,” said a BSES official, adding: “The next six weeks are crucial for the school children. This period is also very stressful for the students and parents alike – they don’t want anything to play spoilsport, least of all electricity.” As part of its strategy to woo customers, BSES is making efforts to ensure constant and uninterrupted power supply, especially in the morning and during night hours. “To ensure ground level preparedness, BSES linesmen have been given mobile phones for instant communication with the Central Control Room. “BRPL and BYPL operation and maintenance offices will remain open round-the-clock. “In addition the officials have been directed to remain alert and immediately respond to every “no supply” complaint,” the official said.
