Gorkha Morcha leaders to meet Buddhadeb today

Special Correspondent

Kolkata: Normal life continued to remain disrupted in West Bengal’s Darjeeling hills for the seventh consecutive day on Tuesday in response to the call for an “indefinite” bandh by the Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM) whose leaders have accepted an invitation for “unconditional” talks to discuss their demands with Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee here on Wednesday.

The talks will coincide with a 12-hour relaxation of the bandh that is to continue.

‘Positive sign’

“The invitation for talks with the Chief Minister from his secretariat is a positive sign and our future course of action will hinge on the outcome of the discussions,” Bimal Gurung, GJM president, told The Hindu over telephone from Darjeeling.
