To overcome shortage in match units
|
SATTUR: Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) has been urged to increase wax production capacity to overcome shortage in match units.
In a memorandum submitted to Union Minister for Petroleum, Murli Deora, Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industries said that the demand for wax had increased manifold as leading match exporters had shut down their units.
Chamber general secretary P.T.K.A. Balasubramanian said that the present shortage of wax was due to the CPCL not keeping sufficient stock before it went for a shutdown for maintenance.
Stating that the refineries usually kept at least three-month stock of diesel, petrol and kerosene before maintenance shutdown, he urged the CPCL to follow the same procedure for wax too.
The chamber wanted the Ministry to import all grades of wax and substantially reduce their import duties to overcome the present shortage.
