No FIR against students for unfair means

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Government on Tuesday said no FIRs would be lodged against students using unfair means in the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Board examinations.

Replying to a question in the Vidhan Sabha, Secondary Education Minister Rangnath Mishra, however, said FIRs would be lodged against those found guilty of aiding and abetting cheating in the examinations.

Mr. Mishra said all necessary arrangements had been made to prevent copying at the board examinations for high school and intermediate.

Replying to another question he said a Vocational Education Board would be set up soon in the State to encourage and promote study of professional courses.

He said the Uttar Pradesh Board is now including more objective type questions in high school and intermediate examination papers on the lines of Central Board examinations.

The Minister also said the Government would take action against B.Ed colleges which were forcing students to cough up more than the permissible fee.

He said complaints had been received that some colleges were charging more money, adding these would be looked into. - PTI
