Two militants killed in encounter in Manipur

Imphal: Two unidentified militants were killed in an encounter with a team of police commandos and Assam Rifles jawans at Kongba in Manipur’s Imphal East district, official sources said on Tuesday.

Militants, travelling in a vehicle, fired at the security personnel when they were asked to stop for a check on Monday night.

Security personnel retaliated and in the ensuing gunfight, the two militants were killed, the sources said.

One 9 mm pistol and some ammunition were also seized from their possession of the victims, they said. — PTI
