Permission must for school excursion

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The State Government has made it compulsory for institutions in the State, including private, to seek prior permission from the respective District Education Officer to take the students on excursion.

“In view of some untoward incidents in the recent past, involving the school children, it is compulsory for the schools to get permission from either the District Education Officer or the Collector,” School Education Minister Damodar Rajnarasimha informed the Assembly on Tuesday.

Replying to a question by Nadendla Manohar (Congress) during the question hour here, the Minister said the Government would come with guidelines and issue necessary orders shortly.

The Minister admitted that unfortunate incidents involving the vehicles carrying the students was a cause of worry for the Government.

Mr. Manohar said excursions should be made mandatory in the syllabus.
