Two arrested for cheating job-seekers

CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch police on Monday arrested two persons on charges of cheating several people to the tune of several lakh of rupees by promising them jobs in Singapore.
The arrest was made, based on an investigation into a complaint lodged by R. Sudhakar of Chidambaram, who said he had paid Rs.60,000 to the accused after they promised him a teacher’s job in Singapore.
Salary not paid
Though they sent him to Singapore, he was not paid salary.
Police said the two accused had cheated six others to the tune of around Rs.20 lakh with similar promises.
Police are also trying to arrest two more persons based in Singapore for their involvement in the racket, said a release.
Forgery
One person, belonging to the Needamangalam taluk in Tiruvarur district, was arrested for preparing fake documents of a will and trying to sell Rs.40 lakh worth property to another person.
According to police, the accused had allegedly prepared documents for a property owned by S. Krishnaswamy, who died in 1972, while serving as a postmaster in the Anna Salai Head Post Office.
Based on a complaint made by the family lawyer of the deceased, the police investigated the matter.
The arrested was remanded to custody on Monday.
