Cash awards for two policemen

CHENNAI: Commissioner of Police Nanchil G.Kumaran on Monday presented cash awards to two head constables of New Washermenpet police station, Vimalesan and Ramachandran, for their effort in nabbing a couple of chain-snatchers.

According to police, last week the two policemen chased two chain-snatchers who tried to escape after stealing a chain from a woman. The police chased the offenders who jumped into the sea near Kasimedu fishing harbour to evade arrest. Both the policemen jumped into the sea and swam over a km to nab the culprits. The Commissioner also handed over four gold chains weighing a total of around 25 sovereigns to four women from whom they were snatched.
