Japanese students meet Governor

CHENNAI: A group of 21 Japanese students from Soka University, Tokyo, is in Chennai as part of a two-week exchange programme. They met Governor Surjit Singh Barnala at the Raj Bhavan on Monday. Mr. Barnala told them that Tamil Nadu was poised to attain 100 per cent literacy in a couple of years. The students, who have trained in Rabindra Sangeet and traditional dance, presented a Bengali dance.

Their itinerary in Chennai includes a visit to the Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women where they will interact with students and participate in a cultural exchange meet. — Special Correspondent
