Goud critical

Hyderabad: Champion apprentice jockey A. Pramod Goud is in a critical condition following a mishap on Monday (Feb. 25).

Dislodged near the 800 metre mark when riding Good Heart in the Indian Melody Plate, Goud sustained grievous head injuries. He was immediately shifted to a corporate hospital. His condition was described as critical.

The accident occurred when Good Heart, travelling five horses wide, shifted into the inner rail for no apparent reason, clipping the heels of Born Brave in front. Goud and his horse toppled over, consequent to which, Shen Long, Milky Way and Yousnooze Youloose, racing directly behind, collided with Good Heart, unseating jockeys Imran Khan, N.M. Sequeira and D. Singh.

An enquiry by the Stewards found none of the jockeys responsible for the accident and no action was therefore necessary.
