Two arrested; Opium seized
NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police for allegedly being in possession of opium.
Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap near Majnu Ka Tilla and arrested Bashir Ahmed and Ravinder when the former came to deliver a consignment to the latter. Four gunny bags containing 95.5 kg of opium were allegedly seized from them.
During interrogation, Bashir purportedly told the police that he earlier worked as a driver and later took to drug peddling to make easy money. The duo procured opium at Rs.500 per kg from Gwalior and sold it to their clients, mostly drivers.
