VIZIANAGARAM: Telugu Desam Party here on Wednesday flayed the announcement of Minister for Housing Botsa Satyanarayana at the awareness programme on Indiramma-III on Feb 24 that there was no need for conducting gram sabhas to constitute committeesfor identification of beneficiaries as the government had decided to sanction pensions and houses to all the eligible in a village. The party floor leader in the Municipal Council V.S. Prasad said it was a violation of GOs 350 and 505 issued in this regard. After submitting resolutions passed at the ward committees Municipal Commissioner S.S. Verma, Dr. Prasad said as per the GOs the committees must be selected at the gram sabhas and ward-level meetings. Nowhere in the State the GOs were violated so blatantly, he said. That apart, the committees were to be finalised by March 5 but in Vizianagaram municipality the committees were constituted for the Indiramma-III by February 24 itself even without the knowledge of TDP councillors in all the 11 wards in the town and conducted orientation classes for them, Dr. Prasad said and alleged that the committees were chosen at the directive of local MLA Kolagatla Veerabhadra Swamy. He said that the TDP would plan an agitation demanding strict implementation of GOs.
