St. Theresa’s Church to organise a

light-and-sound show on the

New Testament

Bangalore: This is a unique event that will present The New Testament in a marathon seven-hour performance.

St. Theresa’s Church is all set to perform a light-and-sound programme in Kannada based on the New Testament. About 950 artistes from Tattaguppe village, near Bannerghatta National Park, will stage “Preshithara Prabhe” (Acts of the Apostles) based on the 27 books of the New Testament on the Carmel Church premises in Tattaguppe on Saturday. It will focus on the first hundred years of Christianity, especially how the religion was spread by the 12 disciples of Jesus Christ.

Fr. A. Thomas, producer and director of the show, said that “Preshithara Prabhe” was the church’s fourth production. They have earlier presented “The Passion Play” (1995), “The Ten Commandments” (1999) and “Solomon the Wise (2002).

The artistes, who have been rehearsing for the last four months, will present the programme on Saturday from 9 p.m. till early morning on Sunday.

The programme will be inaugurated by Fr. Dominic Vas, Provincial of Karnataka and Goa Provinces, and presided over by Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore.

The highlights of the production include the use of 125-track digital recordings done in Bangalore and Chennai studios, colourful lighting with over 200 spotlights and special effects. The dialogues of the presentation are by Fr. Stany Baptist and A. Thomas and music is by Praveen Datt Stephen. Entry for the programme is free.
