Kakinada: Bureau Veritas Certification (BV), a leading certification body based in France having a presence in more than 100 countries, opened a branch office in Kakinada on Thursday. BV has recently tied up with Reliance Industries to render its services for the offshore terminal coming up in Tallarevu mandal of East Godavari district. Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited and Sri Ramadas Motor Transport Limited are the BV’s existing major clients in Kakinada. It is expecting to cater to the requirements of ONGC which planned to set up a refinery in the Kakinada Special Economic Zone and it hopes to expand its operations along the entire east coast of India which has tremendous potential for development of industries, particularly port-based activities. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the Kakinada branch, BV’s Regional Chief Executive (South Asia) Ryszard Kaszuba said that BV would be setting up a laboratory in Kakinada in two to three months for inspection and certification of agricultural and mineral products being exported on a large scale from the seaport. Depending on the quantum and pace of industrial growth that takes place in and around Kakinada, BV would further expand its portfolio of services in future.
