6-hour power cut begins in rural areas

Supply for domestic consumers not to be affected from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

VIZIANAGARAM: Keeping in view the demand for agriculture, power cut for six hours in rural areas has been imposed with immediate effect, according to D.R.K. Prasad, Superintending Engineer (Transco).

In villages, the supply for domestic consumers will not be affected from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will however be no power cut in towns and mandal headquarter villages.

Moreover, the three-phase power being supplied to pumpsets in two groups will now be in three groups i.e. for Group A: 9 p.m. to 12 midnight and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Group B: midnight to 3 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and for Group C: 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. The timings will be changed on Sundays. For the single phase the timings are: Group A: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and midnight to 6 a.m. Group B: 3 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. to midnight and Group C: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. In case of any disruption in three-phase supply during daytime, it will be compensated during night. There will be no power from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Group A, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Group B and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Group C, according to the SE.

CITU ‘jaatas’

To mobilise unorganised workers to the proposed ‘chalo Assembly’ on March 19, the CITU is organising jeep and cycle ‘jaatas’ in the district. The ‘jaata’ will begin at Parvathipuram on March 4 and end in Vizianagaram on March 10 when the union will stage a dharna at the Collector’s office. The ‘jaata’ will cover all the 34 mandals, according to union district general secretary M. Srinivasa. At a press conference on Thursday, he demanded that the government allocate grants in the budget for the welfare of unorganised sector.
