New Chief Secretary for Andhra Pradesh

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government appointed the senior most IAS officer, A. Raghotham Rao, as the new Chief Secretary.
Mr. Rao, who is Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) and Special Chief Secretary, is due for retirement but has reportedly been given to understand by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy that he would be allowed a three-month extension. Mr. Rao is an IAS officer of the 1970 batch.
His appointment as the 29th Chief Secretary was announced after the Cabinet bade farewell to the present incumbent J. Hari Narayan on Thursday. The Chief Secretary thanked the Chief Minister.
