Rupee declines


MUMBAI: After gaining 27 paise in the past three sessions, the Indian rupee lost nine paise on Thursday at 39.87/88 against the dollar even as the U.S. currency tumbled to a record low againt euro. Meanwhile, the Economic Survey 2007-08 tabled in Parliament said the rupee rose by 8.9 percent against dollar so far during current fiscal. The rupee closed at 39.78/79 on Wednesday.

The local currency moved in a wide range of 39.72 and 39.90 a dollar after a firm start at 39.74/75. — PTI
