Road accidents claim five lives

KANNUR: Five persons, including a woman and two children, died in three separate accidents in different parts of the district on Thursday. Three others were injured in the accidents. The road accidents took place at Mattannur, Mangad and Payyannur. Two youths riding on a motor bike were fatally run over by a truck on the National Highway at Mangad. The victims of the accident have been identified as V. Irshad (21) and his friend Khaleel (22). The accident at Mattannur claimed the lives of two Madrassa-going siblings identified as Farzana (6) and Shanil (5), children of P.V. Ibrahim.

At Edanad near Payyannur, a 48-year- old woman died when hit by a goods autorickshaw.
