ABVP action condemned
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: Condemning the vandalism at the office of Delhi University’s History Department head by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists earlier this week, Janhastakshep has said that such hooliganism lowers the academic standards of educational institutions.
“There are numerous incidents where activists of the saffron brigade and ruling parties have disrupted film shows, art exhibitions and such events. What must be kept in mind is the inability and unwillingness of the State to protect the rights of its citizens against such attacks,” said N.K. Bhattacharya of Janhastakshep in a statement.
“Through the tacit and active support of such fascist groups and politics, political parties are desperately trying to divert the attention of the masses from their immediate and primary problems such as increasing inequity and rising employment,” he added.
Janhastakshep has demanded that the ruling parties fulfil their responsibility to prevent “further erosion of India’s fast eroding democratic institutions” and protect the rights of the people.
