CHENNAI: The SAFF Cup football championship involving teams in the South Asian region will be jointly hosted by Maldives and Sri Lanka from June 3 to 14. India is the defending champion. The winner receives $50,000. The draw for the event was held on Thursday in Maldives. India is clubbed with Maldives, Pakistan and Nepal in Group ‘A’ while Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bhutan form Group ‘B’. All matches in Group ‘A’ will be held at in Male and matches in the other group will be held in Colombo. Maldives will host one semifinal on June 11 while the other semifinal and the final on June 14 will be held in Colombo. India’s fixtures: June 3: India vs. Nepal; June 5: India vs. Pakistan; June 7: India vs. Maldives. — Special Correspondent
