Sentenced

Bangalore: A special court in Bellary has sentenced B. Tejappa, a second division assistant in Kudligi taluk office, to one-year rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 5,000 on him after it found him guilty of taking a bribe of Rs. 1,000. In August 2003, Tejappa was caught while accepting the money from Gadde Boranna for finalising a dispute related to change of khata and making an entry of Boranna’s name in the Record of Tenancy and Cultivation, according to a press release. — Staff Reporter
