On child labour

This refers to the argument that the use of children’s services in the advertising industry is indirect form of child labour (Letters, Feb. 27). If it is so, what about the film industry which has brought out the hidden talent of many child artists? Extreme views on any issue will only distract us from our goals. If we wish to bring down child labour, we can help the children forced on to the streets to face the big bad world because of hunger. This is the group that is the first to be affected by any unfavourable global phenomenon. Let us concentrate on rehabilitating the needy and leave ads and films alone.
