A legend

Sulochana Pattabhiraman who passed away on Wednesday was truly a legend in her lifetime. Her awesome knowledge of the theory and practice of Carnatic music made her command the respect of the topmost people in the music fraternity. She could make even a child feel at home. She strove for perfection in her students even at a time when her health should have received prior consideration. Her reviews of music performances were a source of inspiration. Her passing signifies the passing of the age in which people wanted to share their knowledge with the less gifted. The Hindu should publish her works in the form of a book for the benefit of future generations.
