Fee for building plan approval cut

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The BBMP has reduced the fee for plan approval for apartments, non-residential buildings and industrial buildings. The fee had been increased tenfold in December 2007.

The fee for plan approval for apartment building on a site not exceeding 4,000 sq m (having more than five units) has been reduced to Rs. 60 per sq m from Rs. 250 sq m. For those built on site measuring more than 4,000 sq m, the fee will be Rs. 80 per sq m as against Rs. 250 per sq m.

For non-residential buildings in an area not exceeding 2,000 sq m, the fee has been reduced to Rs. 60 per sq m from Rs. 500 per sq m.

Similarly, the fee has been reduced to Rs. 80 and Rs. 100 per sq m (from Rs. 500) for non-residential buildings on sites measuring 2,001 to 4,000 sq m and 4001 and above, respectively.

It will be Rs. 125 per sq m for high density buildings like star hotels, multiplexes, shopping malls, commercial complexes and buildings for IT and BPO establishments.

The fee for approval of plans for industrial buildings has been reduced to Rs. 75 per sq m from Rs 350.

The fee was reduced following pleas by builders, developers and industry representatives, who had petitioned Governor Rameshwar Thakur against BBMP’s decision.
