Hosiery unit gutted

TIRUPUR: Goods and machinery worth nearly Rs.10 lakh, including 25 sewing machines, were gutted in a fire that broke out at a hosiery unit on Mangalam Road here on the small hours on Friday.

Three fire engines supported by two water tankers were pressed into service to douse the fire. Sources from Fire and Rescue Services Department said electric short circuit could be the reason for the accident.
