Policy announcement on equitable education system soon

TIRUCHI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi will soon make a policy announcement on the implementation of equitable education system through a uniform syllabus, State Minister for School Education Thangam Thennarasu said on Friday.
Responding to a query from reporters on whether the system would be implemented from the following academic year, he said final touches were being given to a report submitted by a committee constituted for this purpose. Of the 130 language laboratories planned for the entire State, 76 would be set up in the first phase, he said.
Asked about the delay in the announcement of PG teachers appointed on seniority basis, the Minister said candidates to be appointed under the minorities quota were being evaluated.
Mr. Thennarasu said committees chaired by Chief Educational Officers had been formed in all districts to oversee if schools demanded donation in addition to the fee structure for admission.
The Chief Educational Officer would take action against the erring schools.
