Mumbai: The DLF Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Mumbai franchisee, Reliance Group, has signed up Baroda wicket-keeper Pinal Shah along with Mumbai players Abhishek Nayar, Ajinkya Rahane and Maharashtra’s Yogesh Takawale. “We signed Pinal Shah two days ago. All four will play in the inaugural season. We will make other announcements soon,” R. Balachandran, President and Chief Marketing Officer, Reliance Retail, said. The IPL had designated Baroda as a catchment area for the Jaipur region franchisee Emerging Media, but the under-22 players who have played Ranji Trophy for any State have been made available to all franchisees. “The catchment area rule will apply only to those who have not played Ranji Trophy,” Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, Chief Administrative Officer, BCCI, said. — Special Correspondent
