Free insurance scheme for anganwadi workers

MALAPPURAM: The government has implemented a free insurance scheme for the anganwadi workers in the district in association with the Life Insurance Corporation of India Ltd., (LIC). The scheme, titled Karya Kartri Bhima Yojna, will cover workers between 18 and 60 years of age. They will get free insurance coverage without paying any insurance premium for two years from April 1, 2007. They will get Rs.30,000 for natural death and Rs.75,000 for death owing to accident. Permanent disability owing to accident will also bring Rs.75,000, said an official press release here on Saturday.
