PUDUCHERRY: Director-General of Police A.S. Khan on Friday urged the police personnel to perform their duties with sincerity and devotion without giving room for public criticism. Presiding over a ceremonial send-off to retiring police officers at the parade ground, he also said that genuine grievances of the police personnel would be looked into and remedial measures taken without delay. Mr. Khan handed over cash awards and commendation certificates to the police personnel who secured first, second and third positions in the debate competition sponsored by the National Human Rights Commission. The competition on the topic, “Human Rights — its scope and responsibilities of police,” was held at the police training school last month. Close on the heels of the ceremony, Mr. Khan convened a meeting of police officers and men at the police community hall to hear the grievances of the personnel and gave instructions for redressal, the release said.
