Belgaum: The Department of Social Welfare should ensure proper disbursement of compensation to the victims of atrocities, Deputy Commissioner M.E. Shivalingamurthy has said. In a press release issued here on Saturday, he said the department should avoid delay in disbursement of compensation to the victims from the Scheduled Castes. The Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with officials and representatives of Dalit organisations here on Friday. He said 28 cases of atrocities were reported from October 2007 to January.
